She's Back!

And looking better than ever.

SCREWED AGAIN releases December 4th from Changeling Press. In the meantime, ogle Purple P Rose on the cover, artwork by Sahara Kelly. Awesome job!

Blurb:
Purple P. Rose and Peter Hard are back in another erotic bi-sexual romp.

Purp’s partner, and used-to-be boyfriend, Richard E. Rection, is missing. New partner and lover, Peter Hard, the local vampyre enclave’s king, believes he knows the culprit responsible. Purp and Peter are hot on the heels of the vamp that has Dick, and he may be rogue.

Searching for her old lover, Peter lets Purple live a little in his lusty world. He doesn’t want to tell her Dick may just be having the time of his life and the vampyre who wooed him away may be filling more than Dick’s nights with the delights of a lifetime.

Peter will return him—if Purple wants him back.

Contest information will be announced next Monday, so stay tuned.

Welcome Liena Ferror

I’d like to welcome author Liena Ferror to A Sovereign Spot today and thank you for taking the time to talk to me.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

First of all, thank you for having me here today, J. I currently live in South Central Pennsylvania with my wonderfully supportive husband and beautiful daughter. My son is currently serving in the U.S. Navy. My home is a small zoo with five cats, one dog, one bird, and some fish. When I’m not writing, I’m reading, making jewelry, or spending time with my family.

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing seriously for two and half years now. Prior to that, I had my nose constantly buried in a book. My husband made an off-handed comment about the fact I read so much I could probably write a book. After many starts and stops, Queen of the Ghost Drakon, the first in The Risen series, is being released today.

Tell us a little about your favorite character.

I can’t honestly say I have a favorite character. I try to create my characters with traits that I myself would like to see in a person. Strength, compassion, etc…But I try to make my heroes as hot as possible. Hot enough to singe their female companions. They are stubborn and hardheaded lycans and vampires while my heroines are demons, vampires, lycans and a little bit of dragon and fae mixed in.

Who inspired or inspires you the most?

Prior to beginning my writing career I read Nora Roberts, J.D. Robb, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Christine Feehan to name a few. I also like a good suspense or action/adventure by authors like Clive Cussler and Dan Brown. I’ve read so many books by so many authors that they’ve all influenced me in one way or another to create a style all my own.

Are there any genres you’d like to try writing in?

I would love to write a romantic suspense in the future. I don’t see myself writing like a Dan Brown or Clive Cussler so I’d stick to the romantic side of things and venture out from that genre into different sub-genres.

Are you working on anything new?

Right now, I’m working on the third book in The Risen Series. It’s another paranormal shifter romance dealing with two very different people who have to come to terms with the fact that they are mates. The story tells of their trial as a newly mated couple and the two different worlds they come from.

When you’re not writing, what are some of your favorite things to do?

I love to read. When my nose isn’t buried in the pages of a book or I’m not reading an e-book, I like to make jewelry. I find it very hands-on and relaxing. Otherwise, I’m doing something with my family, be it watching TV or going out and about.

Just for fun, tell us:

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

I can’t honestly say I’ve taken very many vacations. I’m a homebody. I did go to Boston and loved the city and the accents!

If you could own any car you wanted what would it be?

The new Dodge Challenger. There is just something about the car that I love. I certainly wouldn’t kick it out of my driveway.

If you could do it all over again, is there anything you’d change about your life?

No. I like the way my life has turned out though it wasn’t always a smooth road. I’m happily married and have two wonderful children. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Thanks for sharing those interesting facts. Now, tell us about your book.

Here’s a Blurb:
A vampire’s ultimate fatal attraction is the essence of a ghost…

Innocent to the paranormal world and innocent to the world of men, Keara McCabe finds herself caught in a century's old battle between renegade vampires and lycans after witnessing the murder of her friend at the fangs of an immortal bloodsucker. On the other hand, the vampire barely sips her blood and dies. From that moment forward, she becomes wanted dead or alive. The vampires want her destroyed for the danger she is, the lycans want her as a weapon against all vampires.

Lycan Gannon Langon vows to protect her from both her enemies. But its in her arms that he finds innocence and fire, tentativeness and passion. As their desire ignites, the enemy implements a deadly plan.

Will Keara and Gannon survive to explore their new love together or will that love be destroyed?

How can readers get your book?

My book can be purchased from http://www.eirelander-publishing.com/ as of today. Please stop by the website and purchase Queen of the Ghost Drakon if you like erotic paranormal shifter romances.

You can read an excerpt HERE.

Hey folks, I was able to get a few more tidbits of interesting information out of Liena:

What’s your favorite food?
I haven’t met very much I haven’t liked except liver. Yuck!

Where would you like to live if you had a choice?
Bozeman, MT or Boise, ID. Somewhere where everyone’s not on top of their neighbor.
What’s your favorite color?
Blue in any shade. Just love it! (So I did all the question's in blue in honor of having Liena here today!)

Who’s your favorite actor/TV show?
Right now, I’m hooked on Bones so I’d have to say David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel.
I know how busy an author’s life can be and I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to join me.

Mad, MAD! World

The season is over for MAD MEN. What will I do on Sunday nights now? Do they ever think of that, and why can't the shows just go on and on?

Anyhow...

YAY! Maybe Betts will get her lame ass on the road, off the show, and be gone for good! Sure, Don (or Dick) lied to her about who he was, sure, he cheated on her (and he was wrong as two left feet and he'll have to pay for it) But she's a pain-in-the-ass, creepy, sneaky mainline cry baby. I'm in no way excusing what he did, IMHO, there is just no chemistry between those two at all. The politician deserves her, he's creepy too. I mean, he talks to his daughter about feelings he has for a married woman for crying out loud! Christ. He almost makes Don look like a saint.

And what the hell is up with Peggy?!? Enough said there. Wish she'd get on the plane with Betts.

Peter, hmm, I like him, then I don't. The last episode ended with me liking him because like Roger says "you'll do what it takes". He's got heart and maybe if he'd stuck with Peggy - then I might have liked her better. That would have provided some spark to their lives, and the show. But, who am I, right?

Don (Jon Hamm) is hot. But you know what? That silver-haired, smooth talking, sarcastic-as-hell Roger is sexy HAWT! Don't ask me why. Maybe it's the hair? But, dayam. Lord knows I want to see him get an HEA. Don, hopefully he will too, but he's got a length of bad road yet to atone for his dallying around. Watch Roger smile at Peter's boldness in this clip. WHEW! And watch Peter in this clip, yeah, I'm liking him, and damn if Trudy doesn't show some promise here. I was worried she was following Bett's path to unhappy housewifery - NOT!

More news...YAY! Joanie is BACCKKK! She's one of my favorite characters. I know her husband went off somewhere so that he could play at being a surgeon (the army I think). I should know, but whenever he's on the screen, I go do something else. I'll probably catch up with where he is On Demand.

Now, I know her and Roger had a thing, and believe me, I think he's going to have problems with the new wife. Do I want to see him and Joanie go another couple rounds? I don't think so. Plus, both are married. My thought is get their spouses on the plane to Vegas with Betts and the politician (hopefully, Peggy will go along for the ride.) Here's where it gets tricky: Don would be single, Joanie will be single, and so will Roger, if they follow my plan.

Talk about sparks flying in that hotel room, come office. Boy, I can't wait until next year.

PS: A workplace where you can smoke - now that's the life!

Final Edit

For Rhythm of Love is completed and in my EC editor's hands.

I've been working on Book 2 in the Angels in Love series and it's going surprisingly well. I've promised myself to start nothing new, not to work on the 4 WIPs I have - this is Uri's time. He's been patient and took a lot of crap from Ram.

I listen to music and often hit on a piece that reminds me of the character/story I'm working on. Today I found Uriel's song. As The World Falls Down by David Bowie from Labyrinth is PERFECT for this angel. He's hurting because he can't have the one love he wants. But he'll be there for her as the world falls down... See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VppuD1St8Ec

Now, to find Morta would be a big step in continuing to move forward smoothly. She's a tough cookie. I knew I shouldn't have made her so strong... *grins* This has not been an easy heroine for me. Trust me though, unlike in the past - I can't kill her damn it. She needs to be a part of the story. And I have a feeling the next lady is going to be even worse...hell and damnation.

I'm looking to complete this story by mid November.

So, until then check out my website at http://www.angelsinlove.net/ or http://www.jhalisteele.com/ to see what else is in store for you. And maybe pick up one of those wicked wild, bloodlusting cats.

Contest Time!

I've posted a picture in the sidebar to the right of the new shirt available for this contest and, no, my little boy, Wolfdancer, who is sweetly sitting beneath it does not go with the shirt. lol I received a certificate and trophy from Ellora's Cave as a 2009 Rising Star and I was so psyched. Also, you can see some pictures of the RomantiCon convention, including the Cavemen, at my Yahoo Group site and they'll be posted as part of my blog at Paranormal Romantics on Friday. I thought for sure I'd found the model who posed for Ramiel's butt on the cover of Hope in Love, but alas, no such luck. They're NICE! - but no match. If I'm lucky, Will from Ellora's Cave will let me have a picture or two for the blog Friday. I'm not a good photographer and he's the BEST! My fingers are crossed. Now I'm off to post the first of five excerpts from Hope in Love and A Panther's Flight, which will be released Friday, that will have hints you'll need to win the contest. So, let's get this party started!!

NEW RELEASE!

HOPE IN LOVE, first in the Angels in Love series, will be released October 9th from Ellora's Cave! I'm psyched by this story and I hope you'll love the angels as much as I loved writing about them. First up is the angel of hope, Ramiel...and boy does the cover suit him! Blurb: The world is changing. Hope is fading. Darkness beckons. And one angel holds the answer. Tired of death, destruction and mankind’s race to ruination, Ramiel, archangel of hope, finds it harder and harder to care about those he’s meant to help. Now, the Fates have decreed that Ramiel must mate with Yael, an exulted human. On his shoulders rides the universe’s only hope for survival, but the ties that bind him to Yael force him to face his own unexpected reckoning. Yael, elevated to heaven to live out her days in peace, recoils from the sadness and shadows of death in Ramiel’s eyes. Yet the need to ease the despair haunting him is stronger. During nights of searing sensuality, Yael and Ramiel light an erotic fire between them that will not be extinguished. As the combined forces of the heavens try to tear them apart, Ramiel must find a way to hold on to the love he finds with Yael, or an end will come, so devastating that Heaven will drop to its knees. EXCERPT Invisible, Ram stood with his fists clenched at his side. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Yael paraded up and down in front of a mirror in the dressing room of a Victoria’s Secret. His cock nudged painfully at his zipper. What the hell am I going to do now? How could he put an end to this? Patricia held the patrons in her enthrallment and they were both selecting the skimpiest underwear in the establishment. There were bags piled upon bags from the most sought after stores in the whole of Miami. Ram was afraid to see what each bag held. There was Gucci, Vera Wang, JLO shoes. Christ, they’d bought half the city. Rather, stole half the city. “Women and shopping. It’s quite a sight to see, isn’t it?” Ram spun around at the sound of that silky voice, ready to commit murder. “This is your goddamned fault. What did you think you were doing and why did you bring Patricia here?” He watched the smile stretch wider across Raph’s face and he wanted to smack it away. “Oh come now, it’s not as bad as all that.” “Raphael, you bastard. And turn your fucking head. Do not look at Yael.” “My, my, we’ve become rather possessive of an exulted haven’t we?” “We are going to kick your ass. Get out now before I tear you limb from limb.” “For goodness sake, calm down, Ram. You’ll have a damned aneurysm. They’re enjoying themselves. While you were hobnobbing with Michael, I found the women in a bar. A nice one, but a bar nonetheless. I suggest that if you’re going to give out these powers, you should make sure the recipient knows how to use them.” “They were where?” Ram’s face was apoplectic. The veins in his neck protruded, his eyes swirled with blue fire. “I’ve kept an eye on them so you don’t have to worry.” He could no longer maintain his invisibility. Ram’s body shimmered back and forth. His fists clenched and unclenched. He wanted to rip Raphael’s head from his torso. He’d watched Yael try on clothes across the whole fucking city. He couldn’t even shield his thoughts. Raphael’s raucous laughter only enflamed him more. “Raph—” Ram saw Yael’s head tilt slightly as though she listened to something. Shit! She either heard or felt his presence. The meshing. He turned back to Raphael to see the light in his eyes and, too late, he realized he knew what had happened between him and Yael. “My, my. The great whore is meshing with an exulted…” A blue light surrounded Ram and his eyes were filled with the death of a hundred years. He snatched Raph by the front of his shirt and they both slammed into the heat of the atmosphere. Wings unfurled from their bodies, their spans dimmed the midday sun. Thunder crashed through the air and lightning glanced across the otherwise brightly lit summer sky. He dragged Raph down under the cover of the tall Spanish moss that surrounded his domain. Here they would be unheard because of his protective shields. “I will kill you,” Ram growled. “We both know you can’t do that. Shit, my wings are still shorter from the last time. I’ll tell you one thing though. You are going to stop brutalizing me. I’ve had enough of your bullshit. So what exactly are your intentions?” Raph waited. “Then get your hands off me.” “Stay away from Yael. I will not say this again.” “What are you going to do? Michael will find out and you know that. Look, I’m not your enemy here, Ram.” “What do you want?” “I want out of this rag-tag assignment of following Luke’s ass around, chasing his stinking demons. You can make Michael change that.” “No one makes Michael do anything.” “Well, you might suggest it.” “And if I don’t?” “You will, I have faith in you. Now, I suggest you get back to Yael before she steals the city blind.” Raph disappeared and left a cloud of sulfuric stench. Ram stood in the shadows of the tall trees where shafts of light ricocheted across his outstretched wings. He raised his head and released a cry to the heavens that shook his domain to the core. Reviews...

and HARD CASE is a Recommended Read! Shayna of Joyfully Reviewed said:
Readers beware – this book burns. Hard Case is a wickedly sexy adventure that turns up the heat and will leave you begging for more. I absolutely loved this story; it’s exciting, original, and utterly engaging. Case is the kind of alpha hero that will make you sweat. He’s dominant, sexy, protective, and a successful businessman. Tres, in turn, will capture your heart. She’s strong, smart, and kind, making her incredibly likeable. She also has reasons to be wary of relationships, which give her a slight air of vulnerability.
The sparks Case and Tres create are like tinder to a flame. J. Hali Steele definitely knows how to make the most of both the voyeurism and exhibitionism scenes in Hard Case. Both the erotic tension between Tres and Case and the fulfillment of their desires makes the book sizzle. Hard Case works on every level and I hope desperately Ms. Steele writes a book for Case’s friend Alek. Joyfully Recommended! Read full review HERE!
A PANTHER'S FLIGHT received 4 Dark Divas. Here's what Deb of Dark Diva Reviews had to say:
These two characters have something in this story that is so hard to find: true love. Fane and Edy have much to learn about each other's past; in the end will their love bind them or tear them apart? For me, the compassion and connection between Fane and Edy only made this book more enjoyable. I struggled right along with them as they come to terms with each other's secrets. Blog blahs...

I have them when it comes to my own blog. By the time I finish thinking about new stuff and posting at Paranormal Romantics and Trampy Vamps - I'm out of ideas! What to do here...hmmm! Okay. How'd you like to see my refreshed book trailer for A Panther's Flight? It's all I got in me today and the release date for Fane and Edy's story is fast approaching. It will be available October 16th from Eirelander Publishing. This was one of the first trailers I did, and guess what - I still like it. In all of its rudimentary splendor, it said what I wanted to say. Sometimes it's good to return to the beginning and get put back on the right path. Since making it, I had a computer meltdown, so I needed to go into my backup files to find the pictures. Didn't want to have to buy them all over again. Well, here it is, nice, new and shiny all over - A Panther's Flight... And don't forget: Growl and roar-it's okay to let the beast out.-J. Hali Steele

A Thousand Words to Say...

I'm done. For now anyway.
With an edit that was tougher than most. Yes, my character agreed to let me change her a little, with her mother's help. Then I moved on.
Actually 1,476 words penned to the start of a new short I'm working on as a follow-up (I hope) to HOT TIN ROOF. I think it's going okay - considering I cried on the first page! Damn, that was rough.
I think you'll figure out who it's about if you read HOT TIN ROOF. It will be available this Friday at: http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=1221
I'm done. For now anyway.

Changing her ways...

This is really where I'd like to be right now, but - I'm editing, and the character is not working with me. Dang, this should be easier. Problem is - I see her in a way that readers may not. I like her, but then I gave birth to her! See my predicament? Anyway, I made a few changes that snowballed into more changes and now I'm not sure I've done the right thing.
Back to the drawing (writing) board. Today I have to decide, or she does, who she really is...

Ready, set - GO!

Getting ready for a new release. How many days now? Seventeen. The questions I ask myself are: -Have I promoed enough -Contest: yes or no -Interviews set up -Blog ready -Excerpts prepared -Video trailer ...and the list goes on and on. I've made some decisions on promotion, but much more needs to be done. Here's my problem - I don't have a cover yet! Without it, I'm totally NOT ready. I need to see it. Know that it's what I wanted. It'll become my new desktop and I'll gaze at it every damn day. Hopefully, loving it as much as I did the story, the characters. Somehow, having the cover makes it "real" for me. I like to show it off. I'll post it on Facebook, Myspace, my blogs. I'll redo the trailer and add it in. It will go on my website. My friends and family, my fans - everyone gets an email with my new cover attached. Hell, that covers my whole promotion scheme. LOL Then the hard part comes. Waiting to see how sales go. You know, I've always said, "if one person reads a story I wrote, and likes it - I've done my job." I still feel that way. HOT TIN ROOF coming August 28th from Changeling Press. I'm almost ready... Submit or Re-Submit!

Sound like a sandwich? Where I come from that's what we call a hoagie - sub - short for submarine sandwich. LOL I'm sure it has something to do with the shape. Or it could be a BDSM book title, huh? It's neither. I submitted a story, my very first contemporary, that needed some tender loving care, which it was given, along with the addition of over 4,000 words! But it's done, and back off to the editor. My fingers are crossed she'll love it. Now, the waiting begins... Back to the cat cave and remember: Growl and roar-it's okay to let the beast out.-J. SCREWED was Reviewed and Archangels Fly

SCREWED received 4 1/2 CHERRIES! This is a funny take on the erotica genre, but there’s also a good story, too. J. Hali Steele uses names and characterizations typical to the genre, but the substance of the story makes this work worth the time. - Tiger Lily. See more review at Whipped Cream Erotica Now for the Angels: They will take flight. I've signed a contract with Ellora's Cave and I'm looking at a series. This couldn't make me happier. I have a great love affair going with these guys and one I hope will satisfy my readers. They're sexy, bold and the bad boys of heaven. Stay tuned for more. Leron Wilder is a jaguar of the Kind species, big cat shifters infected with vampyre blood. Nothing has gone right for Leron since his best friend Jag mated with the owner of the local coffee shop. Stuck training a new cat shifter who’s a badass wannabe, Leron stops by the coffee shop to seek his ex-partner’s advice.

Corinne Nelson loves her new home and her new job as a waitress at the Coffee Swirl, and she’s really hoping she won’t have to move on this time. Life’s finally looking up -- until the hottest man she’s ever met walks into the shop -- and licks her hand?

Mating is not something Leron is looking forward to. Yet the minute he tastes the new waitress, he knows he’s in serious trouble. She’s a flavor he could find addictive. But she’s not who she says she is, and everything’s falling apart around them. He’s starting to feel like a cat on a hot tin roof…

**********

He smiled and went to her, enfolding her in his arms. “You’re safe with me. But I have to tell you, I still want you. I have to taste you.”

Her hazel eyes gazed at him. What he saw in them pulled him in so deep, he was lost forever. She softly pressed her lips to his, and the animal in him purred so loudly she must have heard it. Down, boy, your turn will come. Unlike Jag, he intended to turn his mate. Give his cat just what it wanted.

As a warrior he risked transgressing many times while taking blood. He deserved fulfillment. There was not going to be a halfway or wait and see for him. Leron wouldn’t be able to handle that. Wasn’t even going to try. He’d bring her all the way into his world. After she was turned and could be a cat too, his beast would have its mate.

He licked her lips, probed into the recess of her mouth. She was sweet. Just a taste of what was to come. His fangs tingled, tried to lengthen, but he held them in place. Not yet.

Cory’s breasts pushed against his chest, and her arms wound around his waist. Her scent permeated the room. Lavender and pussy, so heady he couldn’t stand to breathe.

“Your bedroom?” The words were whispered against her lips, which he didn’t want to stop kissing.

She hesitated. Again her eyes sought his. They glistened with the same desire he felt. Letting him go, she grasped his hand and tugged him down the hallway. The door she opened led to a sumptuous bedroom. Once more he wondered where she got the money to pay for all of this. If he took more blood, he’d have easier access to her mind.

Her king-size bed was covered in a thick white quilt. The only light on cast a pink glow across the top. He liked her taste. Nothing spindly and girly. It was strong dark wood furniture that decorated the space. Steel gray carpet cushioned his steps.

“Condom?”

“Cory, you’re safe with me. I can’t carry disease.” It didn’t matter, but she hadn’t been with anyone for a long time. She couldn’t hide that piece of information in her mind. He’d eventually have to explain his statement, but not right now.

His hands were on her waist, and he pushed her until her knees hit the bed. He lifted her so her ass was on the edge. The towel fell open. He gloried in the sight of her nipples and firm breasts as he stripped his shirt off and tossed it to the floor. Excitement coursed through him at the vision of her lips encircling his cock. He undid his leathers and pulled the zipper down. Her breath caught in her throat when his thick penis tumbled out. He shoved his pants over his hips, and they quickly joined the shirt.

In front of her, he stroked and pulled his penis until it stood straight out in her face. He was done when her tongue swept between her pink lips and moistened them. A drop of pre-cum seeped from the slit on his erection, and he smeared it. A groan escaped him when she leaned forward and flicked her tongue over the broad head.

“Oh, God.” Before he asked, she moved his hand out of the way and grabbed his cock. Her mouth was hot as she sucked him in slowly until his balls were just inches from her chin. He buried his hands in her hair and plowed the rest of the way. She drew back and then swallowed him again.

He tugged her forward, she pulled backward. Her teeth grazed his hardness and set him on fire. When she needed air, she used her tongue to push him out. Soft lips planted hot kisses on the head of his shaft. She teased and nibbled the sensitive underside and nursed on his balls.

“Please, Cory, you’re killing me, don’t stop.” Her lips covered him again and smothered his dick. Finally, he’d had enough. If they kept this up, he’d come in her mouth. She moaned in protest when he drew out. “Don’t worry, angel. I got more for you. Lie back.”

Grasping her thighs, he lifted her until her pussy was at his mouth. He locked her legs over the top of his arms and buried his tongue in her cunt. He shoved it in and out. Licked and bit her clit. The nub grew hard, and he sucked it. His tongue went back to work on the wet crevices, scouring every bit of moisture from the swollen folds.

Her pelvis bucked into his face. She ground against him. She was going to come -- her mind screamed it. He wanted to taste more of her. She gave him more.

“Leron,” she murmured as cream poured into his mouth. His tongue swept one last time across her nether lips.

He lifted his head and gazed at her face. “What? Tell me what you want.”

“You, your cock inside me.”

“It’s all yours, baby.” He lowered her ass to the bed, brought her forward, and lifted her legs so her feet rested on the mattress. She was dripping wet, and the head of his penis was slick with his secretions. Holding her legs open, he slipped his cock right into her. He plunged deep, and she clenched around him, her vagina holding him tight.

“Hell yes,” he said as he began to fuck her. In and out, he stroked her canal. Went deep, pulled out. Over and over. He unfolded her legs and put them over his shoulders. His balls slammed against her ass each time he plunged into her pussy.

“Mmm… Leron. I’m going to come again.” Her voice was raspy, delirious. Her head thrashed, and she used her legs to lever her body into his.

“Give it to me. All of it, angel,” he croaked.

No more, he could take no more. His balls were tight and ready to burst. His thrusts became faster, shorter. He wanted to fill her with his cum. It felt like it traveled from his toes before it passed through his balls and spurted deep into her.

“Yeah!” he bellowed as he came. He slowed his pace, enjoyed feeling her pussy convulse. “Oh, angel, you’re so sweet.” He kissed her gently and stroked her cheek, before hissing at the friction of her channel when he withdrew from her.

He straightened up and lifted her to the center of the bed. After he settled in, he pulled her over between his legs. He wrapped her in his arms and cupped her full breasts, before moving his hands down to caress her stomach. He wanted her to feel safe. Loved. He had to know about her. The dark part she didn’t let him into. “Tell me everything, angel.”

What a week it was...

And now I'm looking forward to getting back to normal. I've got a few stories that need to be told. Characters dying (lol) to get out. In my case they may get out and die. So be it. Right now I'm working on a dance piece that is almost done. Something that just popped into my head this weekend and needed to be told. Of course everything else got shoved to the back burner. This caused a few simmering pots to fall off the stove. I'll clean up what I can and go from there. Have a great week.

SCREWED is coming...

And so is Purple P Rose! Brash, colorful and sexy. Don't miss the fun. Here's a taste of what you'll get. Genres: Humor & Satire, Paranormal; Vampires; Ménage; Bisexual and More http://www.changelingpress.com/ This e-book file contains sexually explicit scenes and adult language which some may find offensive and which is not appropriate for a young audience. Changeling Press E-Books are for sale to adults, only, as defined by the laws of the country in which you made your purchase. Please store your files wisely, where they cannot be accessed by under-aged readers.

SEE PREMIER TRAILER (on this page) BLURB: An irreverent poke into the world of Women’s Erotica. Purple P. Rose is a brash private investigator. Her latest case has her visiting the city’s seediest nightspot, the Mons Venus, with partner and boyfriend, Richard E. Rection. Their new case is full of surprises -- especially when Dick “discovers” he’s bisexual. They are both unaware there’s a new and slightly sinister being in town -- Peter Hard, a vampyre who enjoys the taste of women and men alike. He’s chosen Purple to be his. Ready to claim her, he uses his powers to coerce Dick to bring him in as a partner. Their lives will never be the same again. We kinda doubt yours will, either. EXCERPT: One point of view… It was the crack of dawn. Purple P. Rose woke up with a hairy one in her face -- Boyd’s ass. Shit, had she had too much to drink? She couldn’t think straight. Everything was askew -- even the view out of her ritzy loft’s window. The trees appeared to bow and wave at her as she listened to the shower run in her bathroom. What the hell had happened last night? Something about the new guy. She looked back at Boyd, who still slept peacefully. Purp gazed across the park and tried to remember. She did have some memories intact -- the worst being her partner Dick. She thought he’d gone soft. Maybe not. She shook her head to clear the clouds of confusion. Richard E. Rection was a real son of a bitch known as Dick to his friends. Purp found she’d rather have no one else back her up in a tight spot. He’d done that last night. Warmth crept down her thighs as she turned over the pictures in her mind of what she could remember. She’d seen a new side of Dick. Flashes came to her in living color. They’d checked out the club Mons Venus, a cheap strip joint on the Westside, as planned. The girls there were known to go all the way with customers. So, needless to say, the place stayed full. Every nut-sac in town turned up at Mons Venus. Purp and Dick had met there last night to interview a bartender involved in their latest case. It wasn’t their usual type of job, but she’d taken it for the money. Car repairs had left her flat broke, and it was the first of the month, which came too fast lately. Her real problem -- so did Dick. Now she remembered. He’d been the first to interview the bartender in question. Dick then disappeared with him to a room behind the stage. After he’d left, Purp ordered her second gin and tonic. She’d decided to enjoy the show. The girl on stage had hair the color of a magnificent western sunset. The bush between her thighs carried the same flaming color. Red knew the pole she used intimately. Purp’s panties were soon full of morning dew. But it was nighttime and she wanted to be full of something else. A hefty dick, a sliver of tongue, it didn’t matter. Anything would do the job right now. A tremor of premonition lanced through her. She studied the other patrons. As she looked around, her eyes lit on a dark corner table. Someone stared back at her from the table there. She could make out the outline of a body. Male. Smoke wafted around him, obscuring his face. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach, and her pussy clenched on itself. Who was he and why was he watching her? It wasn’t the first time she’d had the feeling lately. Shit, just what she needed -- the witchy stuff following her around. Purp shook it off and felt her side for the gun holstered there. The wave of raw lust that slammed into her left her weak. Between her thighs, her cunt pulsed. She went through life horny, but what hit her now was hell. Dick hadn’t returned, so Purp went to find him. What she found didn’t shock her. Not much did nowadays. She’d opened the door to the room where she heard thumping and bumping inside, and found him in a big wingback chair with his pants around his ankles and the bartender’s face buried between his muscular Adonis-like thighs. Purp had never seen Dick in this light. Hmm. “Purp --”

OPEN CALL for submissions...

Permission to pass this on. Click on Open Calls below for more information and stop by Eirelander Publishing to have a look around.

You may have a story for them!

Open Calls

Unto Tomorrow What does the future hold? It's a question we want you to answer. These stories should have a modern day traveler who journeys to the future by way of a device. The device or mode of travel may be of the author's creation, but should have a detailed explanation, myth or legend attached to it. The plot must uphold the `reason' for the traveler's journey whether or not they journey to the near future or distant future time. · Stories must have strong elements of futuristic/spec- fic fiction. They may include any plot from science fiction, fantasy, utopian/dystopian fiction, apocalyptic to post apocalyptic/ new world order. These stories should include a fully developed plot with fully fleshed characters. The characters need not be likable, but must give the reader good cause to root for them. The device or vehicle may work both ways (journey to future then back to present), but it should be understood that a positive ending/HEA is preferred. · These stories may be any length from super-short to saga. · Stories for consideration can be either Mainline or Heat Line, but must follow our general submission guidelines. They can be either general fiction or romance. If romance, they may be any heat level. · Send a query letter in the body of an e-mail along with the entire document to submissions@ eirelanderpublis hing.com. Please include a short summary of your story, your publishing credits or experience if applicable and the entire document. Please include, `Submission, Unto Tomorrow' in the subject line. · Super-short and short stories must be submitted no later than December 30, 2009 for consideration in the 2010 print anthology. Novella lengths and above are considered for print publication in accordance with our `mission statement'. Legacy 2150 Our signature line of hard science fiction stories, they may explore any science fiction plot but should apply themselves to the guidelines of `hard' science fiction. Fully developed worlds, spaceships, aliens, and fully-fleshed main characters with intriguing sci-fi plots that do not shy away from social issues, morality plays and all other aspects that make `hard' sci-fi what it is should appear in the story. These are not watered down science fiction but all that made science fiction great. · Stories must include the elements of true hard science fiction. Detail to world building, whether a space ship or a distant planet is imperative. The plot must be attached to all intrinsic elements including the world, the characters, and the antagonist. Gadgets, gizmos and `alien speak' should be well developed and have ready explanation if necessary. · Story length should be novelette length and up. Please include, `Submission, Legacy 2150' in the subject line. Revenge is Sweet A one night stand can be a good thing if it's with the right person. This line is explicitly designed for characters on the rebound and does revolve around that tiny bit of vengeance every lover scorned wishes to extract from a former lover/boyfriend/ husband. These stories need not be just a `one night stand', but they should stick firm to that instance of vengeance and the resolution of getting back on the proverbial `horse that kicked' them. · Stories must have an integral aspect of revenge though it can be downplayed and diluted. The focus is on the injured party in these stories and how a chance meeting with a stranger can help them resolve emotional issues. · Story length super-short, short or novella length. · Stories for this line are in the Heat Line, and must follow the submission guidelines. They should be Carnal or Extreme. They may take place in any time period including historical or futuristic. An HEA or HEA for now is preferred. · Send a query letter in the body of an e-mail along with the entire document to submissions@ eirelanderpublis hing.com. Please include a short summary of your story, your publishing credits or experience if applicable and the entire document. Please include, `Submission, Revenge is Sweet' in the subject line. · Super-short, short and novella length stories must be submitted no later than December 30, 2009 for consideration in the 2010 print anthology. Please direct questions to questions@eirelande rpublishing. com or visit eirelanderpublishin g.com for our submission guidelines.

'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' OK it's about Hugh Jackman

'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' Stills - Photo Gallery on Yahoo! Movies It's Friday and a holiday weekend to boot. So I thought about seeing a movie. Leave it here. Throw in some pictures too. Never can get enough good pictures. Have a safe Memorial Day and remember those important to you and the world. Thanks for stopping by.

Cover Models

We've all seen them, bought books because of them. Oh, right, I bought the book to 'read' not for the picture on the cover. True, I did - but the cover is what attracted me in the first place. Sure, I want it to be a good story filled with fiery romance. I might even imagine someone different than the cover model. But if you're going to plant the thought - it better be good. Preferably he's handsome and sexy as hell, a god. And please, give me chest hair! Maybe it's just me, but I don't get excited looking at a hairless man. Here is where I should say out of the hundreds of books in my library, you might find a half dozen with a woman on the front. Why? I read to escape into new worlds and I want to be the heroine! I don't want to envision the always skinny chick on the front being in the arms of my romantic, strong and drop-dead gorgeous hero. For however many pages - he's mine darnit! So, who would be the cover model of my dreams? I've met him twice at RT Conventions. Spoke to him at length in April - begged him to be on a cover for my upcoming release with Ellora's Cave. If the powers to be at EC ever read this: GIVE ME C. J. HOLLENBACH. Please. Intelligent, witty, romantic and absolutely a hunk. The man is awesome and in my mind: he is HARD CASE. He has to-die-for gloriously long, silky, ashy blond hair that screams for fingers to run through it. And those eyes - are they green or are they blue? All I know is, God, you could get lost in them. Fran Lee, author (Out of Her Dreams-Available 5/22 at Ellora's Cave), put together a photo montage at You Tube that knocked my socks off. *Contest* WITH EXTRA CREAM *Contest*

...And I'm talking about coffee. Well, maybe not. Since I'm operating on one cup so far, it's hard to tell. *smile* Coffee is such a burning topic for me. I thrive on it. Not unusual to have a pot a day and most times, more. When I buy, it's beans and for some reason I keep it in the freezer. Why does it never freeze? I take cream in my coffee. My favorite is a latte from a local coffee shop. I can't leave the house without stopping by for a cup - no matter how many I've already had. I believe I'm addicted. Could they be putting something else in my cup? Oh well, I'm hooked - so is my hero in WITH EXTRA CREAM. Today, I'm asking this question for a reason. It's a contest. WITH EXTRA CREAM releases Friday from Changeling Press and I want to make sure you're all ready for it! Jag loves his coffee with extra cream. BLURB: Getting enough cream is a problem for this cat... Jag Arizon has a plan to correct that. A jaguar from the Kind species, big cats infected with vampyre blood, he walks in both worlds. Aside from blood, he's addicted to cream, and only one person can cure him. In convincing her to donate to his cause, jag gets much more than he bargained for. Barbara Dorsey, the uptight co-owner of the local coffee shop, has all the cream this cat needs. But she's only giving it away in dreams to the one man who not only opens the door to her every desire -- he can change her world forever. How do you like your coffee? Who makes your favorite cup of coffee. Do you like it with extra cream? To enter the contest, answer the questions above in the comment section. Friday morning one lucky winner will be picked to receive a tee shirt - Are You Kind? Good luck.

Home Again

Workshop with Caridad Pineiro, L.A. Banks, A.C. Arthur, Kimberly Kaye Terry and Megan Hart.
The Allure Authors Reception/Signing Am I the only one who goes away, either business or vacation, and can't wait to get home? RT Convention was fabulous, my first year as a published author so it was really exciting. One thing that meant a lot was to be able to put something in the Changeling Press basket as an author. Met lots of readers and authors. Chatted, networked and attended workshops. And the parties--especially the Ellora's Cave night--Cavemen were HOT! And I don't have to tell anyone how great the Mr. Romance contest was right? I met some friends from last year and caught up on what they're doing. One won Bobbi Smith's Creative Challenge contest for those who attended the advanced writing classes. She'll have her synopsis and a chapter sent to a NY agent with an eye towards representation.
I took my laptop with the hopes of getting some editing done, perhaps read a little and do some crits for my groups. Maybe even write a couple thousand words.
Nada. Zip. Nothing. Each night I fell into bed so exhausted it was unbelievable. Had a great time and wouldn't trade it for the world. But it brings me back to my original question...
How long before you long to be home again?

Convention Prep

Yikes! It's almost here. RT Convention is around the corner, glaring at me. I'm making key chains and of course I waited until the last minute. Who said promo was easy? But, I will be getting my site name out there and I hope those who pick up a chain will stop by and leave a comment. Are you attending? What are some of the promo items you'll be using? Hope to see you there!

Importance of Critique Groups

You know... critters. At least that's what we call them. No, they're not a bunch of little creatures running with nuts and looking for cover. Well, not most of them. Though we've been known to hide out when involved with a new WIP and the words simply fly from our fingertips. Finding a group that fits you is very important. You'll only grow as a writer if you learn the mechanics of writing. I remember reading somewhere that great authors weren't born that way--they learned to write. This doesn't mean not to attend classes, you should. But read, read, read. From all genres. Become serious about your craft. You have a story to tell, so now you have to write it in a way that others want to read it. Nothing works as well as having someone (no, your mom, sister or best friends don't count) look through your WIP with a fine tooth comb. The fun part is--you get to comb theirs. It can be scary telling someone you don't think something they wrote works or is passive and, ach! the dreaded backstory. But it's important to be honest in your critique. There's no need to be brutal or disrespectful of someones creation. A few well thought out ideas or suggestions will go much further in teaching and helping. This is a very subjective industry. We all read books looking for something different. It's not the difference we critique, or the author, it's the mechanics of writing. When I joined my first group, it literally scared me to death. I was getting ready to give my story, my baby, over to a total stranger to rake over the coals! What if they didn't like what I wrote? What if they tell me to forget it, you're terrible. All these things ran around in my head until I gathered my courage and posted the first chapter. And, boy, my first one was tough. She wrote, "watch the head hopping." Then every other sentence there appeared a box to the side saying, "whose POV is this?" I've since learned that little box to the side is a comment box. It's used to give suggestions and comments, and if used effectively, it will help you to hone your craft. All kinds of good stuff can appear in that one little box. One day there was a comment to me from the same person that said, "Wow, this is good." An encouraging note that told me I learned, I improved. Without my critters help I'd probably still be sitting at my computer, all alone, struggling through another story and wondering why the hell my email was full of messages saying thanks but no thanks. There are many groups out there who share their expertise in various genres, google critique groups. Find one that fits you and always keep an open mind. You'll only improve at what it is you love doing--writing. - J. Hali Steele.
